Jewish employee sues Lightspeed Commerce for antisemitic harassment and wrongful termination

The Lawfare Project is supporting a Jewish former employee of publicly traded software company Lightspeed Commerce in a psychological harassment and wrongful-termination case before Québec’s Administrative Labour Tribunal.

Following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks, the employee alleges that she was subjected to repeated antisemitic harassment in the workplace, including being called a “f***ing Zionist,” exposure to posts referencing “kill all Zionists” and a meme depicting Hitler, and being ordered to remove an Israeli flag from her Slack profile while Palestinian flags displayed by coworkers were left untouched. When she raised concerns about her safety, a manager allegedly responded, “imagine how the Palestinians feel,” while requiring her to continue working from the office.

Québec’s labour-standards authority found that the criteria for psychological harassment were met and recognized her resulting depression as a compensable workplace injury. The case now awaits a hearing on the merits.

The Lawfare Project is supporting this case to hold employers accountable for failing to protect Jewish employees from antisemitic harassment and to affirm that anti-Jewish hostility has no place in the workplace.
