The Lawfare Project Condemns Terrorist Assassination of Jewish Couple in Washington, D.C.

The Lawfare Project is outraged and heartbroken by the brutal murder of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, who were shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on the evening of May 21. The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, shouted “Free, free Palestine” as he was apprehended, and authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime and act of antisemitic terrorism.

Yaron and Sarah were not only dedicated professionals serving the Israeli diplomatic mission but also a young couple planning to be engaged. Their lives were stolen in an act of hatred that targeted them for who they were and what they represented. This was not just an attack on two innocent Jewish individuals—it was an attack on the Jewish people and on the values of democracy and coexistence.

This tragedy is part of a deeply disturbing trend: the normalization of Jew-hatred under the guise of political activism. When rhetoric that demonizes Jews and delegitimizes Israel's existence is tolerated—on campuses, in media, and in public discourse—it creates an environment in which violence becomes not only possible but inevitable.

We call on U.S. authorities to prosecute this crime to the fullest extent of the law and to treat it as the act of terrorism that it is. We also urge immediate and concrete action to protect Jewish communities and institutions across the country. Security must be strengthened, and hate must be confronted at every level—from the streets to the halls of government.

The Lawfare Project will not waver in its mission to defend the civil and human rights of the Jewish people through the power of the law. We will relentlessly pursue justice against those who incite, promote, or enable Jew-hatred—wherever they are and however they operate. In courtrooms, on campuses, and in the public square, we will stand as an unyielding force against antisemitism until justice is not only demanded—but delivered.

Our hearts are with the families of Yaron and Sarah, and with all who are grieving this senseless loss.
