Various schools have been unwittingly promoting an organization linked to PFLP

New York, NY — As reported by the Washington Examiner, The Lawfare Project sent letters last week to four American universities that have been promoting Al-Haq, a non-governmental organization with terrorist ties masquerading as a human rights group. Georgetown University Law Center, University of Chicago, Lewis & Clark Law School, and New York University School of Law all showcase Al-Haq on official university resources as an organization to be considered by students for possible internships, fellowships, and employment.

Al-Haq's General Director, Shawan Jabarin, has been convicted by an Israeli court for recruiting and arranging training for members of a designated terror group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). As recently as May 2018, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express shut down online credit card donations to Al-Haq after being alerted that they were providing financial transaction services to an entity with links to terrorism.

Brooke Goldstein, Executive Director of The Lawfare Project, released the following statement:

"Given Al-Haq's close association with the PFLP, [these schools] would be well-advised to counsel their students against involvement with the organization rather than effectively guiding its students toward Al-Haq by listing it as a viable 'human rights' opportunity. Would the [school] similarly promote an organization directed by a known former operative of ISIS or al-Qaeda?"
